Scoreboard: Thomas Jefferson, Steelton-Highspire fall
Friday night proved to be the makings of many close battles in the state playoffs.
In Class AAA, defending District 7 (WPIAL) champion and top-seeded Thomas Jefferson (11-1) saw its 48-game district winning streak snapped at the hands of West Allegheny (10-2). Thomas Jefferson quarterback Sam Johnston played in the game despite his father's sudden death on Thursday.

In Class AA, Lewisburg (11-1) advanced to the District 4 final after knocking off previously undefeated Towanda (11-1), 19-17.
And in Class A, Conemaugh Township (10-1) won the District 5 title with a 21-20 win over Windber (8-4), while defending state champ Steelton-Highspire (8-3) was upset by Millersburg (9-3), 14-13.
