Moshannon Valley's Eric Sherkel has been one of the best kept secrets in Pennsylvania for the last couple of years. From a production standpoint, Sherkel's 2016 season was good enough to earn him Class A All-State honors and PA PREPS Class A #Golden33 honors. Ths past Thursday, Sherkel announced via his twitter account that he committed to Bowling Green University:
There were several factors that went into Sherkel deciding to commit to Bowling Green. "Bowling Green has a great football program with a winning tradition," said Sherkel. "The new coaching staff is great too."
Sherkel's versatility is why Bowling Green likes him as a player. "Right now, they aren't sure where they're going to use me," said Sherkel when asked about what position he'll be playing at Bowling Green. Sherkel says he could either play wide receiver or defensive back.
"They (Bowling Green) like me in space and like my knack for making big plays."
