After being a dreaded 'silent commit' for weeks, Fork Union (Va.) wide receiver Michael Thomas has made his commitment to Ohio State public. The 6-foot-4, 203-pound prospect becomes the 14th member of the 2012 Ohio State recruiting class and the third wide receiver in the class, joining Ohioans Frank Epitropoulos and Roger Lewis. After witnessing Ohio State's emotional victory on Saturday night, Thomas just felt it was time to make things public.

"Yeah (I committed)," said Thomas. "I have been a silent commit for quite some time now but last night basically sealed the deal. I saw and learned everything I needed to."

Thomas picked Ohio State over offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Boise State, Nebraska, and UCLA, among others. Ohio State was considered the leader over the last month or two, when Thomas had announced a top three of Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma State.

Thomas is the nephew of former NFL pro-bowler Keyshawn Johnson and is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com.
