Week Nine Recruiting Rewind





In week nine of the high school football season, a number of 2012 Alabama commitments shined under the Friday night lights. Find out how everybody in the 2012 recruiting class performed in this edition of the Week Rewind.



















2012 ALABAMA COMMITMENTS: WEEK NINE

1. Ryan Anderson

Linebacker

Daphne


Week Nine: Daphne (8-1) lost its first game of the year on the road at McGill-Toolen, 38-28, but Anderson still had a solid game with eight tackles, including two for a loss and two quarterback hurries. Daphne wraps up the regular season at home against Baker on Friday.



For the season: 57 tackles, 14 TFL, 12.5 sacks, 3 FF.

2. Dakota Ball

Pepperell (Lindale, Ga.)

Week Nine: Not available

3. Chris Black

Wide receiver

First Coast (Jacksonville)

Week Nine: Black was off last weekend, giving the UA commitment time to make the trip to Tuscaloosa for his official visit. More coming to TideSports.com on how it went. First Coast (6-0) will travel to Raines this Friday.



For the season: 3 receiving touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, 2 punt returns for touchdowns.

4. Amari Cooper

Wide receiver

Northwestern (Miami)

Week Nine: Cooper didn't play as Northwestern lost a nail biter to Belen Jesuit 36-28. The game had an unusual ending as Belen attempted a free kick for the go-ahead score. Northwestern (5-2) hosts Central this weekend.



For the season: 26 receptions for 603 yards and 5 touchdowns.

5. Kenyan Drake

Athlete

Hillgrove (Powder Springs, Ga.)

Week Nine: Despite losing two fumbles, Drake had another monster week with 217 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in a 42-25 win over Pebblebrook. Drake's longest touchdown run was 59 yards in the first quarter, and he also had a 49-yard score in the fourth to seal the victory. Hillgrove (8-0) will play at Kennesaw Mountain on Friday night.



For the season: 96 rushes for 1,006 yards, 13 touchdowns, 7 receptions for 175 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 kickoff return touchdown.

6. Casey Gladney

Wide receiver

Columbia (Columbia, S.C.)

Week Nine: Week Nine: Gladney caught three passes for 81 yards and a touchdown in Columbia's 24-0 win against Eau Claire. He added 59 yards on two punt returns and had one return for a touchdown called back by a penalty. Columbia (7-2) hosts Keenan on Thursday night.



For the season: 42 receptions for 827 yards and 13 touchdowns.

7. Brandon Greene

Offensive lineman

Cedar Grove (Ellenwood, Ga.)


Week Nine: Open week. Greene and a group of teammates, including top 2013 quarterback Johnathan McCrary, visited Alabama over the weekend for the Tennessee game. Cedar Grove (6-3) finishes the regular season with a road test at McNair on Friday.

8. Adam Griffith

Kicker

Calhoun (Calhoun, Ga.)

Week Nine: Griffith went 7 for 7 in PATs and kicked every kickoff in the end zone in Calhoun's 42-7 win over Dade County. Calhoun (8-0) plays at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on Friday night.



For the season: 8-for-12 FGs; 32-for-32 PATs.

9. Caleb Gulledge

Offensive lineman

Prattville

Week Nine: Prattville (7-2) rushed for 359 yards behind Gulledge and the rest of the offensive line as the Lions defeated Jefferson Davis, 52-13, last Friday. He also added a tackle on the defensive side of the ball.



For the season: N/A.



10. Tyler Hayes

Linebacker

Thomasville

Week Nine: Thomasville (8-1) dropped their first game of the year to Jackson, 28-9, but Hayes still had an impressive night. He finished with 12 tackles, including three for a loss, and also had 15 carries for 107 yards. The Tigers look to bounce back this week with a home game against Clarke County.



For the season: 492 yards and four touchdowns on 49 carries, five receptions for 134 yards and a touchdown and 77 tackles, 12 TFL, 3 sacks and a 3 FFs.

11. Darren Lake

Week Nine: Not available

12. Dillon Lee

Linebacker

Buford (Buford, Ga.)

Week Nine: For maybe the first time all year, Lee played a full game as Buford (9-0) shutout Greater Atlanta Christian, 28-0. Lee finished with 10 tackles and two sacks to help pace the defense. The Wolves are off this week as they prepare for the region play-in game.

13. Alec Morris

Quarterback

Allen (Allen, Texas)

Week Nine: Morris showed he was clutch last Friday night when he led Allen on a game-winning drive in the final two minutes and threw the go-ahead touchdown with just eight seconds left to defeat Marcus, 38-35. In the game, he was 17 of 30 for 341 yards and four touchdowns, and he also rushed for a score. Allen (8-0) will travel to Hebron this weekend.



For the season: 123 of 198, 1,937 yards, 25 touchdowns, 3 rushing touchdowns.

14. Darius Philon

Defensive End

Vigor (Mobile)

Week Nine: Philon recorded four tackles, including two sacks, and hurried the quarterback three times in Vigor's 35-7 win over LeFlore. He also ran for a two-point conversion. The Wolves finished runner-up to St. Paul's in Class 5A, Region 1. Vigor (7-2) plays at Blount on Friday night.




For the season: 45 tackles, including nine sacks and eight tackles for loss. He added nine quarterback hurries, one caused fumble and two fumble recoveries.

15. Reggie Ragland

Linebacker

Bob Jones (Madison)

Week Nine: In a defensive struggle, Ragland led the Patriots' defense with 10 tackles, five tackles for loss and a sack in Bob Jones' 17-3 win over Decatur last weekend. On Thursday, Bob Jones (9-0) takes its undefeated record into Hoover for one of the top games of the week in Alabama. TideSports.com will be at the game, bringing you full coverage.



For the season: 60 tackles, 18 TFL and 1 receiving touchdown.

16. Geno Smith

Defensive Back

St. Pius X (Atlanta)

Week Nine: Smith had marked the Grady game on his calendar early in the year, and he came to play as St. Pius X (8-0) won big, 49-16. The UA commitment rushed eight times for 68 yards and a touchdown, caught a 12-yard pass, and also had six tackles on defense. The Golden Lions will play Washington this Friday.



For the season: 41 carries for 478 yards, 6 touchdowns, 1 receiving touchdown and 50 tackles, 1 INT, 1 FR.

17. Justin Taylor

Running Back

North Atlanta (Atlanta)

Season: Taylor's season is done after the running back tore his ACL. Despite the injury Alabama plans to stick by its scholarship to Taylor.


For the season: 88 yards on 29 carries (season is over due to injury)

18. Justin Thomas

Quarterback

Prattville

Week Nine: Thomas completed 3 of 12 passes for 72 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also had three carries for 27 yards as Prattville (7-2) blew out Jefferson Davis, 52-13. The Lions are off this weekend.



For the season: 65 of 106 for 991 yards, 11 touchdowns, 4 interceptions and 517 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

19. Eddie Williams

Safety

Arnold (Panama City, Fla.)

Week Nine: Open Week. Arnold (3-4) plays at West Florida on Friday night and with a win, will clinch a playoff spot.
