One of Ohio State's top targets for the 2012 class was on campus recently when athlete Frank Epitropoulos made the short drive from his home. The Upper Arlington (Ohio) standout stopped by to check out the Buckeyes on the practice field and have another opportunity to learn more about the in-state powerhouse.
"It went really well," said Epitropoulos of the practice. "I wanted to get to a team practice and get an up close look at how the coaches coached and everything. You go on the junior days and the coaches all treat you well and everything but I wanted to see them live in action and see how they coach."
Epitropoulos excels at both wide receiver and safety but it appears that Ohio State is looking at him on the offensive side of the football and that is where most of his attention was focused during the practice session.
"Today I was looking at the wide receivers," he said. "Before and after the practice I went to the meetings so that was pretty neat."
Epitropoulos was also able to speak with some of the coaches before and after practice and had some informative discussions with new wide receivers coach Stan Drayton.
"I talked to the wide receivers coach a lot and I was talking to coach (Jim) Tressel for a little bit, too," he explained. "Coach Drayton was telling me what they were trying to work on in practice and what they were trying to get better at."
Ohio State isn't the only Big Ten school that Epitropoulos will visit this spring. The versatile athlete recently checked out Michigan State and will visit Wisconsin next weekend. The visit to Madison will be the first time that Epitropoulos will get an up close look at the Badger's program.
"I'm excited to go up there," he said. "I haven't been to Wisconsin and I want to see the campus and meet all the coaches."
Once Epitropoulos returns from Wisconsin he will have a chance to reflect on all of his recent visits and he's hoping to have a decision sooner rather than later.
"To be honest I don't know exactly when I'll make my decision but I want to do it before my senior football season at least," he said.
While he doesn't have an official final list of schools, there are four schools that at the moment are sitting at the top for his services.
"I would say my top four would be Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Stanford as of now," he said.
